PRELUDE

Play is now well recognised for its potential power and influence on a child’s development. It is through play that children learn about themselves and the world around them.

Early Childhood education is concerned with the growth and development of young children. The Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) is used in our service to extend and enrich children’s learning. It assists us to provide young children in our care with opportunities to maximise their potential to develop a foundation for future success in learning.

Children learn best when they actively participate in a number of varied, challenging and interesting learning experiences. They learn to communicate, investigate and express themselves through these learning experiences in a friendly, supportive and fail-free environment where independence and co-operation is encouraged and appropriate behaviour is reinforced.

We believe that our centre reflects an aesthetically pleasing environment that fosters a program that enhances children’s development in all EYLF outcomes and where all children are treated equally.

We are mindful of our carbon footprint and aim to be a role model to our children and community. We are working towards a sustainable future and also provide a home like environment that welcomes families and children to become an active part of our centre.

The highest quality of care is obtained through quality teaching and child care, appropriate resources, community support and through strong parental involvement.

FOR CHILDREN

  • We believe every child is a unique person, with their own interests, learning style, growth timetable, and culture. When given the time, space, and opportunity to interact in a meaningful environment, a child can construct new ideas and link them to existing knowledge.

  • We empower children with communication skills so that they can learn to take responsibility for themselves. To cooperate with others and to effectively resolve conflicts.

  • We recognise the importance of play as one of the main ways in which a child learns and develops

FOR FAMILIES

  • Through working in partnership with families, we use the learning outcomes to guide our planning for our children’s learning.

  • We keenly embrace diversity and respond to changing individual and family needs

  • We strongly believe families are children’s most valued teachers and involvement is encouraged as an important part of the program

FOR STAFF

  • We highly value our role as educators and are committed to the National Quality Framework and continue to extend our skills and abilities through professional development and ongoing training.

  • We will endeavour to earn the respect of families through commitment, dedication, trust and educational expertise.

FOR THE COMMUNITY

  • The great vastness of cultures within our community is highly valued, respected and embraced as a resource to educate others.

  • We will liaise with services and external resources to enrich our program.

  • We communicate with specialists to assist in planning an enriching environment for children with additional needs.

FOR THE PROGRAM

  • The EYLF guides us in our curriculum decision making and assists in planning, implementing and evaluating the quality of our service to achieve the best learning and development outcomes for the children in our care.

  • The EYLF promotes positive interactions with our children, families and colleagues and hence informs the experiences that are planned for our children.

Our program therefore provides a foundation for future success in learning based on our children’s strengths and interests which is implemented by our educators through the use of appropriate teaching strategies
